What's wrong with it? Forgive me but that looks older than one weekend?

Myself, I'd like to see an itemization on how the hell you could spend $4,800 on rebuilding a head.

Or was it machined special from scratch?

The most recent dealer price list I have is from 2007, but according to that, if he bought a NEW head from the dealer, that would have cost him $2886.97 for the bare head, $455.92 for NEW intake valves, $306.92 for NEW exhaust valves, $179.60 for NEW valve springs, $207.84 for NEW upper and lower valve springs retainers......that's $4037.25....toss in NEW valve guides, NEW valve seats and assembly.....maybe $4800 (if he bought ALL NEW parts from the dealer)...but it's still a stock used head.

Please tell us what has been done to this head to make it a $4800 "racing" head

+1 didn't even notice that, I was focused on how someone could spend $4800 on what looks to be a stock head

It's probably ported as well if I had to guess, but I don't see why if it's off a 951. My #3 valves were all black like this #2 after the crank snapped at that cylinder and scored the crap out of it.

obviously not....most likely was trying to sell a head that is worth more as a small canoe anchor or scrap aluminum than as an automotive head

the visible pitting, even in that photo, makes me suspicious about the 'one weekend of use'. that surface looks like the head off my '83, prior to having it decked (is that the proper term?). just saying.
