Why a single combined forum for 964 and 993

This sub forum is confusing and doesn’t get anywhere near a much traffic ad the site.

You think splitting it in two will raise traffic?

It would make it a higher signal to noise sub forum, and thereby I believe would lead to more traffic, yes.

Makes total sense. Let's split it up.

Why , simple ..many common parts near identical chassis platform similar engine units
despite upgrades in software and injection componentry.
Also interiors are near identical and largely compatible ,, also wiring harness are largely
the same although the injection wiring differs slightly on earlier examples ..
Lastly front suspensions near identical except for one or two dimensions rear suspension on 993 only real deviation from six years earlier '89.., Bert

I'm very new to Porsches & these forums, but FWIW I'm more inclined to use Rennlist now that I own a 964 and they have a dedicated forum for it. It's easier to get more direct information for the car I'm interested in.

Exactly. Most 964 related posts on pelican are actually on the 911 forum because of you’re going to dilute the model with other generations, you might as well go where there’s the most traffic.

My 2-cents, specific is better than general. Rennlist is the clear traffic / content winner when looking for 993 content. I subscribe to both platforms/forums, but the logic that they "share" parts/features is irrelevant to a 993 or a 964 owner (who is the target audience) for the content. Forcing the reader to filter is a bigger negative than the benefit of some overlap, as overlap is not obvious to the uninformed or casual reader, so they will tune it out at the start if not their model/series.

Also, these forums are starting to lose content to FB and Instagram groups, first the visuals and for sale, now the technical is starting to seep in and groups are model specific. Adapt or become less relevant.

Do you know any good FB groups for the 964?

There's a group, "Porsche 964 Club".
