Difficult to diagnose misfire
Hi,
1995 Carrera 2 993 about 50k miles Drives very good (lots of power, good torque) but after 5k rpm starts to misfire with backfires on the exhaust. vehicle belongs to a friend, he already have replaced sparks, coils, injectors, caps and rotors, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel tank filter, confirmed fuel pressure during a road test, ignition wires, road test with another ECU, fuel pressure regulator. Exhaust system is modified. He claims condition commenced after vehicle spent some time on a body shop (wide body conversion) Any suggestions ? Thanks.

My ignition module failed on one channel and was only working on one distributor- wasn’t missing as such but around 5k rpm it was very sluggish. See if both coils are firing - just pull each coil lead off in turn and see. The module is under the LHF seat. Might be worth a look.
