964 Hall Sensor Replacement
I have a distributor that has a cut wire (red) on the hall sensor plug. Is there any replacements, or do I need to try and piece it together. I figure it would be best to replace it as a unit since it is 30 years old now.

If you have a cut wire on the hall sensor plug of your distributor and you're dealing with a 30-year-old unit, it's generally recommended to replace the entire distributor unit rather than attempting to piece together or repair the wiring. Distributors are crucial components in an ignition system, and any issues with their wiring or sensors can affect the engine's performance. When it comes to the specific replacement part you're asking about (964 Hall Sensor), it's important to ensure compatibility with your vehicle's make, model, and year. This information refers to the Porsche 964 model, which was produced from 1989 to 1994. You should check with a reputable auto parts supplier, such as a Porsche dealership or specialized auto parts store, to find the correct replacement distributor with the hall sensor for your vehicle. Replacing the entire distributor unit with a new or refurbished one that includes the hall sensor should provide you with a more reliable solution and help ensure proper engine performance. Additionally, it's a good idea to consult a professional mechanic or technician to ensure that the replacement is done correctly, as proper installation is essential for optimal engine function. All 964s use the same distributor, so compatibility isn’t an issue.
