Questions about 996

New to this "water cooled" thing. I have had many early 911, but recently a 1999 996 caught my eye. It has 60K miles, no paint work, great looking. Runs great. It has a little "wine" the first minute or so when first started. (sounds like a fuel punp). What should I be looking for in general? Any help or suggestions would be much appriciated!

That little whine is probably the power steering pump. The reservoir may be a little low. Once the pump spins for a bit, the whine goes away due to better lubrication.

If I am right, the pump will fail eventually...mine did on the Boxster S.
