extra efficiency oil coolers for the 993
Anyone has improved the cooling capacity of the 993 oil system with either factory racing parts or Ruf modifications?
When I ordered my 98 Carrera S the factory deleted the extra oil cooler option I wanted (which costs $2000 at the time of pricing in 1997). I was wondering if I can further reduce the oil temp with any racing part modifications OEM. The temperature is OK except while extended idling during NJ smog checks. |

Cargraphic, RUF and the OEM Turbo S aux oil coolers all do the trick. If you go higher HP or track alot, the Turbo S will probably not work for you. They are all less than the $2K Turbo S option in 1997.

I have a Cargraphic cooler in my 964 for the hot days at the track and it makes a big difference. In my 993, I installed a switch to allow me to run the oil cooler fan at high speed and it makes a big difference in stop and go traffic. You can also check to ensure your fan is operating properly at low and high speeds. For street use an extra cooler will not help much, especially in traffic.
