Cool 993 Big Red/rotor newbie question

Hi

I just purchased a 1997 993 Coupe (no S or Turbo was in the budget... only in my dreams) and I had a couple of questions

The PPI mentioned that the rotors needed to be resurfaced... looking at them, I doubt having them turned is worth the effort, so I need to get new ones. Since this is my first Porsche I'm not all that familiar with the details - the previous owner had Big Reds installed, so would he have had to swap out the standard rotors? Do I need the much more expensive Turbo/RS rotors or just the slightly too expensive stock rotors? Any way to tell which size these are? Maybe a pn on the hub or wherever?

One other thing - the rear caliper seems bigger than the front - it's not much bigger- maybe I'm imagining things.... Are big Reds the same size on all four corners? Shouldn't the fronts be bigger than the backs, if there is a difference? Any expert help for a newbie would be great!

TIA
Pak

Not sure on the big reds. They may or may not use the stock rotors. I would advise you to call Pelican and see what they list for them.

I don't think the big reds use stock rotors. You'll have to order the right size. I don't know there is a part number on them, but you can always measure them.

Hi

Thanks very much for the help!

Bill, so the rotors are the same size front and back? And are all four calipers the same size? Any distinguishing characteristics that would indicate which are fronts and which are rears?

I don't know why I'm being so paranoid about this....

The Big Red front rotors are 322x32 and the rear are 322x28

This is a rear Big Red, a modified rear Big red, and a front Big Red

the most obvious difference between a stock front and rear is the axial mounting ears on the rears, fronts are radial mount. The fronts are a few mm taller but the same width and length
