Reproduction 964 rear lenses @ 1/2 of normal Lense prices: interest check

Shoot down a few post to the ones with today's date: 02/07/07.

That is correct - if you get new ones (Pelican sells them, of course) you can also get used ones from dismantlers, but the prices aren't much better.

Some people remove the fogs entirely (the light output is OK... not great, just OK) and replace them with the air ducts.

I'd prefer a round driving light/brake duct combo, like on the 993TTS, anyone have such a unit?? With all the night-time driving my black-eye'd wife does, she really needs the extra light on the ground. I have an HID Upgrade coming for her headlights, but couldn't justify the expense on her fogs with as horrible light-throw pattern as they project.

I think they're pretty tough to fit onto a 964... some complain about the lights themselves, too, since they are non adjustable and put out only 35watts.

The air intakes for the 964 and 993 are diff part numbers - ducting is different from model to model.

Yes, knew about both of those issues, but have not pursued this in a while, I was hoping something had changed. 35w is fine, if you go HID, but I wouldn't figure such a tiny housing could accommodate such a hot bulb, but hey, I'm just theorizing.

Ya gotta have adjustability though...

I'm surprised soem enterprising aftermarket company hasn't capitalized on this yet - made a formed housing that will fit in that opening and takes a commercially available fog/driving light the likes of Hella, PIAA, KC or something...

Any takers?

I, myself, have a cracked driver's side fog light and would welcome an improvement to the $150/side marginal light problem.

Maybe we just need to make a blank that fits that opening with a mounting tab and cut a hole to accomodate a commercially available light (in the $50-$100 /pair range)...

The ideal setup would, of course, integrate with the factory wiring... I wouldn't want to have to cut my wires to fit a pair of $35 projector beams :-)

No, I'll compile a plug-n-play H3 Halogen or HID kit that has a nice retaining frame around it. If it doesn't look OEM, I don't want it on my car. Give me a few weeks or so.

none worth mentioning at this point, though still in the works. However, I'm working a plan to make reproduction 964 tail light lenses. How's that for interesting??

My goal: 1/2 price of what they normally sell for.

well, ok, 4th set. 1st set was pink/cracking when I purchased my car in '98, so bought a complete set ($425 or so at that time). Then, Wife got lightly tapped by some bimbo in a minivan screaming at her kids & talking on the phone (of course) in '00, now, even with routine waxing of the lenses (yes, it does help), the pink & cracking is returning. I REALLYL think my contacts will hear me out on making sets for me, though, I'll probably have to order 100+ sets or so.

well, mine Pink-up & start the hairline cracks at the same time...un-sightly for such an expensive car.
