MisterB,

Get with Tab at Autobahn Garage, Findlay, Ohio. He is a member and posts regularly. He did work for us on both our 911s and we liked the results!

Do you want to have the capability of driving most of the year? Get a C4 from '89 to '95 ('95 is a 993, others are 964). Get a PPI from someone who is reputable. There is a shop in Erlanger, KY that is OK, Tab is good. Make sure they check the compression and not just the readings from the computer!!! If they will not do it, go somewhere else!!! Check Pelican, Rennlist, even try Dorkiphus. You can even try cars.com, but all but two I looked at from there were just junk. You just never know...

FWIW, there are some nice cars out there for less money than you are seeing but you will have to look! I missed a nice '91 964 C4 by one person that sold for $18,000. It needed some inexpensive DIY work, but the interior and body were NICE! Keep looking and spend some time. Just because a car has been on the market for some time does not necessarily mean it is a bad car. Look at as many as you can. I went through MANY lemons before buying. Don't rush into it!

I bought my 96 993 three years ago. I have Euro springs and the RSR muffler mod, but otherwise it is stock. Absolutey love the car. But it is horrible when there is any real amount of water on the road. And I don't think its the tires - had S03's before, and just put on some P-Zero Rosso's.

Oh, and I shred the rears about every 5500 miles.

Have you ever had a good porsche shop check/give your car a wheel alignment?

The car should feel stable even in the wet, maybe that has something to do with the tires wearing to fast. Maybe your running to much "toe" or camber

The rear end is pretty hard to set up and the shop has to know what there doing.

MisterB, try Cars.com, Autotrader, Hemmings, Rennlist and Pelican. I JUST purchased a 1995 triple black Cab for $25K that was on Cars.com 200 miles from my town. I sold my 74 911 w/3.2 and wanted a 993 cab in the worst way. Funny thing, NADA and KBB list these cars for $25-33k and you'll find them from $22k to 50K!!!! People pull prices out of their a_s for these cars. My concerns were: Mileage, no paint/bodywork, minimal owners and a CABRIOLET!!!!! Oh, no blue interiors..... Good luck!!!!

he is, I know. And my opinion, don't do a 964 C4, the awd system on those cars can be a nightmare. The 993 awd system is a MUCH better system (all things considered)
