question on oil leak

I had the car @ my mechanic for an oil change, fuel stabil, etc before she is put away for the season. My mechanic (who i trust) said I have a small oil leak from the valve covers. He had mentioned that because he doesn't see any other problems which would point to the need for a top end rebuild that he would recommend replacing the valve covers with aluminum ones. He said also, that while they were doing this that they could check to see how things were looking inside.

My question, has anyone had good fortune switching from magnisium valve covers to Aluminum ones?

My mechanic figured this would definatly hold off the need for a top end for a while. thoughts?

I replaced my valve covers with a aluminum covers from Tarret because I had the old painted ones and the paint was bubbling off.

If you have a small oil leak, you might want to try replacing the gaskets first. You can get a complete gaskedt kit from our host for much less the new valve covers

Oil Leaks/Valve Covers

I changed originals to Imagine Engineering covers from US although OEM are now alloy & now about same price. An easier fix maybe changing the oil. I used Mobil1 for 10 years and 3 years ago the car starting leaking. I changed from 0W40 then 15W50 then finally changed to semi syn Brad Penn 20W50 and no more leaks.
