HID conversion 964

I recently had HIDs installed on my 92 Targa (5000K lighting) by a reputable tech. They looked and operated amazing. The illumination is a 100% improvement. I now know why drivers prefer HIDs over traditional lighting. After several days, the electrical ghosts occurred and engine performance was not up to par. Difficulty starting the car and when it did turn over, it sounded as it was operating on 3 cylinders. I returned the car to the authorized installer. He is dumbfounded on why the HIDs are not operating properly. He has installed over 50 HIDs with nil complaints. After many attempts to troubleshoot the problem, he willingly offered a full refund and to reinstall my originals H4s. I am determined to investigate this further and overcome this issue. Only after thorough research, will I throw the towel in. Is it possible to convert to HIDs on a 964?

Left in the dark...

Did you replace just the old bulbs for the new hid ones and added the ballasts keeping your entire headlight assembly or did you get some different kind of headlights? did you have the high and low beam feature?
Thank you in advance and hope that your other issue gets solved soon.

I removed the existing H4 Halogen bulbs. Installed BiZion HIDs which included relay, ballasts and bulbs with single tube bulb which has hi beam built in. The lights will not perform properly. I cannot shut off lights with interior light knob. The ignition must shut off in order for the lights to turn off. I have since removed the HIDs a went back to my original H4's.

I would like to install the HIDs if all possible. Question. Can HIDs be installed on my year of car? 1992. Thank you. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I dont see why you wouldnt be able to run hid's on your vehicle as long as its wired properly, i would love to get hid's for my 964 too, where did you get yours?
I have seen those kits being installed pretty much in any car,but i have never installed any or wire any of them, but i have read some threads about similar issues and normally they turn out to be just wrong wiring.
There is a guy that sells european relay harnesses and he makes them specifically for high wattage or hid applications, i am not sure if he would make some for Porsche, i have bought stuff from him for VW applications, this is the link for Euro wires, they are really good quality btw, i hope this helps.
EuroWires- headlight conversion wiring, relay harnesses, grounding kits for VW
