Hole in rubber boot
Noticed I have the a hole in the rubber boot sitting on top of the fan. The hole is about 3" by 2". Seems the rubber is deteriorating and breaking apart. I need to take the car in for service soon and wanted to know if it's OK to drive until then. What is the boot's purpose?
Thanks |

If I understand your description correctly (pic?), this is part of the shroud that directs cooling air over the cylinders. Watch your temps! Also, make sure you clean out the old rubber bits so they don't clog the cooling fins.

The boot acts as a duct to the blower and you will want to replace it ASAP. The p/n is 964.106.403.02. Just for clarification, the original ended in .01 but the parts are interchangeable and the .02 is an up revision.
Cheers, James
