Adjusting Sway Bars?

I'm planning my winter projects, one of which (after buying 4 ESCO 3-ton jack stands) will include r/r the ASB bushings.

Question is, where to set the adjustments?

Both F & R are currently in hole #2, which is one hole away from softest setting. This car is a DD, but will see 6 to 12 DE days (with any luck) at places like Lime Rock, The Glen, etc., all of which have very different track surfaces and characteristics. My goal is to set the ASBs appropriately over the winter then get as much seat time as possible to get very comfortable with my car's baseline settings before going down the slippery suspension tuning slope.

TIA for any insights or references.

Happy and safe New Year to all!

Phil

A 964C4 is going to be an inherently under-steering car, you will have to experiment to find out what's right for you. For street use probably the neutral position is best for most people most of the time(RS 5/3 adjustable bars? that would be hole 3 front and hole 2 rear)

to get less under-steer loosen the front(move to the rear holes) and/or tighten the rear(move to forward hole)

to get more understeer do the opposite

you can experiment w/ tire pressures too. here for less under-steer use higher front pressures and or lower rear pressures. Go in small increments
to

of course you should start off w/ a good performance oriented alignment, find a shop you trust and go w/ their advice for that.

Bill,

I understand the principles of the relative F/R ASB adjustments re: over-/under-steer. I'm wondering if I can stiffen both F & R if i am comfy with the over/understeer?

As Bill said a lot of this is going to depend on tire choice/pressure, spring rates front to rear and your driving style. Think of the ARB's as a fine tuning tool when you are at the track. Also, once it's raining I just disconnect them to get more bite. Personally, I like my car a little loose in the rear since I can get better lap times that way but every driver is different.

Cheers, James
