welding precautions, reapplying coatings
Hello- I am getting ready to weld on a front jacking point to a 964. Since the car is full of electrical and electronic gizmos, what precautions to remove or disconnect these is appropiate? Second question-after welding, what coatings should be reapplied to the area that was hot? Thanks

Not sure why you'd need to weld a jacking point on a 964? That said, what I would do is disconnect the battery and keep the ground clamp of your welder in very close proximity of your welding locatoin. That will leave practically no current to flow through the rest of the car.
Hope this helps, G |

Because they get distorted from careless jacking, tow truck operators, etc.

Use a quality zinc primer, paint and apply that coating they use in the wheel wells. Let each cure between applications. |

Thank you for your answers- I will plan to use Wurth Alu Zinc primer and Underbody Seal over the area after welding.
