Easy clutch question

Can anyone tell me if the clutch pedal must be pushed for the starter to inguage on a 993? There's a large yellow wire from the ignition to the start relay (R61) and a trigger wire from the drive block under the driver's seat. I'm able to connect the small yellow/black trigger to the large yellow start power under the start relay and my starter works. My problem is there is no clutch safety switch. The only switch I see on the clutch pedal or linkage is a normally closed mirco switch that passes ground and loses ciruit as soon as the clutch is pushed, I think this is a cruise cancel switch. Is there a pressure switch somewhere under the car? My 951 will start with the clutch pedal out but it's a 86' I just assumed that my 993 would have a safety switch.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks deekay, I felt like that was the case. It seems like a liability, but I guess Porsche is counting on common sense...
I appreciate the info.

Well, I have mixed feelings on that...I am a Brit living in the US, and no car I ever came across (and 99% of them are manual) in the UK or Europe have a clutch switch. I guess US driving standards...

I've got my engine turning over with the key. No clutch safety switch, which I don't mind if that's the way it came. I think I've figured out the drive block as well if it may help someone. I've read that they will give trouble and there is talk of people wanting to bypass them. I lifted up the fusebox to access the underside of the start relay (61). The yellow/black wire is the trigger wire from the drive block unit under the driver's seat. Without power on this wire the start circuit is open. I cut the wire 2 inches from the relay and soldered it onto the large yellow from the ignition switch. Start circuit complete! Thanks again.
