993 will not start

I have a problem with my car (95 993) in that it's not starting. The problem occur after I washed the car's engine. I'm not getting any fuel or electrical signal. I've checked the fuel pump and it's working. What could be the problem? Thanks for your help.

Yes the car is cranking but not starting. I've bought a coil but that's not it. Today I removed the electrical connectors and applied compressed air still not starting. I've borrow a DME relay from a friend car and nothing happens. The relay works the fuel pump- I've bridge the connectors- but it's not starting.. Would you please outlined the steps to take. Thanks.

Your post caught my attention because the same thing happened with my 96' 993 friday night. I washed it and it wouldn't start. My car has an LS1 in it but I connected my LS1 ECM to the stock ECM wires and I'm using the stock fuel pump, fuel pump relay and fuse position. After I washed it it started then died on the way back into my shop. The motor would turn but no fuel pump or ignition. I jumped the fuel pump relay and still no start. I started looking for other things that didn't work and noticed that the dome lights weren't working. I checked fuses and relays and after a few minutes everything came back. Fuel pump, dome lights.. motor fired up and ran fine.

993 not starting

I've never had such a BIG little problem before!! Still can't get the car to start. I've replaced the relay, replaced the coil, blown out every connector on the engine all to no avail!!! All this because I washed the engine.

Any help??

I'm thinking that my problem was a fuse or relay connection in the box. Even though the fuses are good, I'm thinking one of mine wasn't passing current. Try removing each fuse, or at least the ones related to the ecm/fuel pump/ dme and check for corrossion. Maybe apply some dielectric grease as well. I don't think you have a big problem. just a connection issue.

I'll check it out tomorrow. If that doesn't get it I'm taking it to Doc's a Porsche repair shop.

With my first 911 years ago, washing resulted in a no-start and then a shaky start.

Since then, I use a heavy-duty plasic sheet under the lid to cover the engine before washing.
To prevent accidental starting with the plastic over the engine, ignition key is under the floor mat.

Works great on the 911 and now the 993.

I suggest re-checking the fuses and make sure that the DME relay really works.

Actually confirm whether or not you are getting spark and whether or not you have the correct fuel pressure.

Are your injectors getting a signal?

Thats just a start.
