964 fuel pump / lambda sensor fuse blow out!
One morning I try to start the engine, but I couldn't. The fuse #34 fuel pump/lambda sensor was broken. I replaced it but occurred again!
Short history, checked several times and finally replaced fuel pump and lambda sensor and the problem continue. The only way the engine start is disconnecting the lambda sensor. The engine go on, but when it warm up, fail in idle and doesn't start again until it cool down. So, please anyone have any idea what' happens!!! HELP JC

If the fuse does not blow when you disconnect the lambda sensor, then there is a short in the wiring or the lambda sensor itself. However, the car should run without the lambda sensor, the mixture will be off a bit, but it should run.
I believe you have two problems. One is an overly rich condition. The other is a short in your wiring system. It is possible that the lambda sensor was correcting the overly rich condition and now that it has failed, no correction is taking place. How do your plugs look, I would expect black and sooty. You need a mixture test by hooking up to a smog-type tester. Dial-in your mixture then trace the wiring problem. Good Luck, Mark
