993 engine manuel vs tiptronic

Hi

I am thinking about swapping an 3.6 engine in my 75 coupe (have done it before on another car). There is a 993 engine fs, but it comes from a car with tiptronic. Is the ecu different from the ones with manuel and can I use this engine and ecu(can it be chippet for a manuel trans if there is a difference)Is there any difference on the engine for manuel vs tiptronic?

Mechanically speaking, it is the exact same engine.
There is a couple of things that are different, and if I am to swap a Tip engine in a manual car, it would take me 5 minutes to adapt.
1st thing is a cable that goes out of the engine wiring harness to the manual gearbox for the reverse gear signal. On Tiptronic, reverse signal is from lever.
I happen to have this bit of cable if one day you need it.
Second is a slightly small alternator belt, that you could swap for the manual belt.
In Tiptronic, while you are on a stop in gear, rpm goes down to 600, so to compensate alternator speed, a smaller belt is used. To adapt a larger belt, you remove shims between pulley halves and you are done.
But for the ECU, I am practically sure it communicates with the tip box Brain, so The ECU might be different. Have to check on the PET or parts catalogue

ok thanks for your reply

The engine is for sale at a brooker with or witout the ecu, I will have to pay extra for the ecu so I could buy the engine and get an ecu for manuel else where. Is it the way to go or can the ecu be chipped to work with a manuel trans?

This advice is worth what you pay for it but you are best off using the manual ECU rather than attempting a reprogram of the one for the automatic..

If I buy an ecu from a manuel, can I use the wiring from the engine or will I need to buy wiring from a manuel to ?

The DME or ECU for Tiptronic is totally different from Manual. Buy a manual ECU.
The wiring is all the same. Engine harness is the same but missing one cable for manual transmission,
I can send you the cable free, or you can buy a new harness for $120 ish
It is the same harness for both tiptronic or manual.
What price is the engine going ?
do not go above 4 - 5 thousand $
The tiptronic engines are cheaper because a lot of breakers do not know that it is the same engine plug and play
