New RS Owner Questions
How hard is it to remove the storage boxes behind the seats with the long term plan to reinstall them at a later date.
Is it true that a six speed from a 993 will into a two wheel drive 964. I have a G-50 out of a 1987 Carrera to trade-plus cash for one.

Not sure about the storage box question, but yes, a 993 (G50/21) six speed will essentially bolt right into a 964. This solves one of the weak points of the 964 IMHO. I would also add a LSD if you are going to make this switch.

Probably an RSA, since (a) si Banker is a fellow DFW, Texas resident, and (b) the RSD probably wasn't an option an a true Euro RS.
As for the RSD removal, it shouldn't be too difficult. Browse around back there, the fasteners should be fairly easy to find. For some reason these RSDs command a big premium when sold on the forums. If you were trying a add rear seats in place of the RSD, you would run into issues since the RSD cars do not have the seat belt attachment point welded to the tub. RS America
It is a RS America abd is a US car. I was interested in removing the rear storage box just for grins. I had dinner with Vic Elford, the person who was responsible for the design and creation of the RS America. The reason for the rear storage compartments were because the DOT wanted to be sure that a third or fourth person could not ride behind the seats. By adding the storage boxes the problem was solved. I understand that some RS Americas made in late 1993 or early 1994 had rear seats as the storage boxes were built by a outside contractor and they ran .out.
The trans in the car is a LSD unit. I have to say that I love the car; it has more power than my Carrera and is more comfortable too. I would be interested in hearing from any other RS owners in the DFW area

Could we please refer to this as an RS-A and not an RS........pretty substantial difference.
And as to the RSD/storage boxes behind the seats, they would fetch strong $$$ if you decided to sell. Last, how about some pics?

Is a US 6-speed substantially superior from a performance perspective, enough to warrant swapping out a good 5-speed? Slightly shorter first and an extra overdrive?

I think if you open up the storage covers on the box you will see two braces where the box mounts to a point where the seat belts would have been. Remove those two bolts and I think the box comes out.

Not true. I have one in from an RS in my Speedster. They didn't have the doors on them.
