993 door window frame finish

Does any one know what anodizing finish that is applied to the window door frame?
I also get the impression that this is a common problem.

I found a great article on another forum about refurbishing them, however I dough that paint is correct re-finisher.
The frames need media blasing to remove the corrosion and this guy will be redoing them very soon.

Given I plan to keep this car I am considering ordering new one but the price is about $4000.00.
