993 gearbox wont shift into 1-2 plane

I have a 993 gearbox from a 95 993 that wont shift into the 1-2 plane after it shifts into the 5-6 plane. It will shift 3-4 or 5-6 but not 1-2 or R. THis happens right at shaft eliminating shifter issues. Like something is jammed in there preventing the movement over to 1-2 plane.

Will remove diff and see what if anthing inside box.

Anyone had experience with this issue?

I've seen the 1st/2nd shift rail jammed when needles from the side gears have escaped. The spacer between the side gears cracks, needles begin spilling out, a couple feed through the R&P, and those bits end up jamming the 1st/2nd shift rail. Let's hope it isn't this ..

Looks like the bearing shaft in the reverse lever broke and wore the inner race of lever and was getting caught up. Need to replace all these items. Any updated parts out there?

This is a very common failure. That shaft is a cheap induction hardened part, and should be replaced with the Motorsports version, as sold by PMNA and Guard Transmission. Ask for the upgraded reversing lever shaft. (Sorry, I don't have the part number offhand.)

I think I need the reversing lever as well - the broken shaft wore the inside deteriorating the bushing and I think the inside of the lever too. Is there a motorsport verison of this too?
