Shifter adjustment in c4

My new 964 has a strange behavior for shifting. When I move from its resting place in the 3/4 plane it does not like to go into the 1/2 plane unless I pull back on the shifter about half an inch. I haven't taken a closer look yet, just looking for suggestions.

Here is a reading material on the shifter adjustment. See if this helps. If not, then you need to investigate the shift coupler inside the tunnel behind the front seats. There is an access to see the coupler.

Yes,I saw this page also. Not exactly the best description of how to adjust. I did determine that my engine mounts are shot, so I'm changing those first. Thanks

My 993 shifter was sloppy and difficult to get into reverse. I put in a short shift kit and shift rod. Along with motor mounts. Best $ I spent yet concerning shifting.
