930 Fender flares on 964?

Heya,

I am curious to know whether or not it is possible to install 1989 930 fender flares (front and rear) on an 1989 964? I have been looking around and I have seen mentions of it, but no concrete evidence to say it can be installed.

I am aware there will be some modifications to be done. But would it be the same process as installing a flare made for the 964. Reason I am going this route is that I cannot find metal flares for my 964 only fiberglass. I'd rather the metal.

Any suggestions, pictures of your builds with the 930 flares would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, this car was built that way

Oh man! Thanks for the picture. I was worried about the form factor to the car. My worries are over.

Also, What wheel sizes should I be looking at? I heard 9x18 and 11x18 rear was ideal to suit the kit.

Not my build, but I believe it's the same car Bill posted above.

They did use 9ET48 & 11ET5 x18 on the factory versions, using n/b trailing arms

I am currently doing a build using 930 front fenders on a narrow body 964. there were some minor issues with the drivers side, the fuel filler box is different and requires some modifications but easily doable. Finding 964 turbo fenders is tough and when you do they are much more pricey than the 930 equivalent.

I am surprised Geoffrey sold his car I was at his house with Ilko a few years back and he swore he would never sell it after all the work he put into it. Whoever purchased it got themselves one fine machine.

Bill. You mention 9 & 11 same as used on the 3.8 RS/RSR the big problem is finding a set that meets those dimensions unless you pay crazy money for custom made wheels and finding tires is not easy for track duty.

It would appear that 8.5 and 12 X 18 is the easiest to find in one piece OZ's or the like but I am still having a problem with offsets and needing spacers. Any suggestions?

Geoff's far more interested in flying these days

What do you want cheap or the best

I'd look into a set of Forgelines, they will make most any width and o/s and have a large selection of designs, Made in the USA too.

I had heard that; more time with the family makes sense.

Hate to say it as much as I want Forgelines Out of my budget for now. I budgeted to redo my Fikse's didn't count on my wheels not being compatible with the newer barrels. Just looking for something to get me through a few events and figure out if I did everything correctly. Building a car is almost more involved than building a house.

Sounds like I am on the hunt for some used wheels for now.
