91 964 Wheels
Please help,
I'm really confused about wheel sizes, patterns, offsets. I just want to know if anyone could tell me whether 1978 Carrera original fuchs will fit a 1991 964? Thank you very much.

All this information can be found doing a simple google search or a thread search on Pelican. SC wheels will not go on NB 964s. Stock offsets on a 964 are et.52 and et.55 (I believe). Stock SC is 15 and 22 (I believe). SC wheels mounted will stick out past the wheel well on a 964. These offsets are going off of memory and I cannot remember exacts at the moment.

Bill, did you type that out from memory, or do you have these posts saved in a doc, so you can just copy and paste each time someone asks??

Bill Verburg, I have a set of twist 993 wheels 8s and 10s is it possible to use them on my 964 before I buy tires for them I bought a set for my 1995 968 and they worked perfect without spaceers?

In the light of a new day I just remembered that the 10ET65 rears will need ~15 to 21mm spacers I think that the green car has 21mm spacer Porsche part # #477.501.701

BILL,
Do you think 45mm bolts will work with the 21mm spacer and turbo twist wheel. |

you'd need to know the length of the stock ones, I may have that info somewhere but it's not immediately available.

If my coculations are correct 37.9mm
So I would add 21mm to that to get the correct length? |

I changed to the 66mm studs and replaced my factory 16" wheels to 993 turbo twist 18" wheels the car stil have to much clearance between the top of the tire and the fender lip,.
In the last 15 years i may have put 10k miles on the car. With 3 kids in college I really don't care nor have a $1000 to put in suspension modifications. Is it possible to lower the car with the factory suspension? With my earlier models we just reset the torsion bars and ajusted the screws up front. |

![]() In back there is a similar arrangement w/ very limited range These are intended for corner balance adjustment not ride height adjustment

Thank you Bill for your help and knowledge.
Does anyone have the RSS9 used that are not wore out for cheap? If not what should I expect to pay to accomplish my goal with the lease amount of money? |

Adding to Bill's info. The cheapest route is a combination of H&R springs and Bilstein B6 shocks&struts. That's a very typical setup and will give you a ~1-2" drop from the US ride height. Recognize that the spring collars on most front aftermarket spring/strut setups can be adjusted so low that you have no compression travel. Heights between RS and RoW generally allow reasonable suspension travel. Be smart.
The stock 964 wheel studs are 45mm, measured from under the head to the end of the threads. For aluminum lug nuts, the minimum is 21mm of thread engagement. If you use steel lug nuts, then the minimum is 14mm. By my measurements, these are the safe stud/spacers combos for our alloy nuts. 45mm stud, 0-1mm spacer 52mm stud (mine measure 50.5mm), 0-7mm spacer 66mm stud, 14-22mm spacer Good luck!

Thanks....
I am not that knowledgeable on these matters as you can see. But will try to figure it out. I was looking for the look that the green car in Bill's photo has. When I took the 993 wheel off of my 968 and put it on my 964 it appeared to me it would have to go down maybe 3.5-4" to achieve the look of the green car in Bill's photo. Will the bilsteins and springs combination give me that look? Thanks for you advice and help. |
