Climate Control Madness
Myself and my mechanic are grasping at straws at this point - gone from Loving my 996 AC to being frustrated with it
Initial Symptoms were erratic cooling - seemed to be losing cold air at idle, fans were not kicking in Compressor was engaged but no cold air Mecahnic did a lot of troubleshooting - replaced the fans and resistors in there front bumper and seemed to be better Worked better then quickly went back to the way it was (although the fans and coolant were all cooler / working better) Took it back they evacuated the system pulled codes, etc...talked to Porsche - they recommended lower Compressor refirigerant and more oil and said its something they are seeing in 996's NOW - it works "better" but i still randomly lose cold vent temps for no reason - sitting at a stop light...air stops blowing cold...i turn it off and back on (literally off and on) and it kicks right back in It seems to be the worst in AUTO mode....it barely works at all...IF i use the MANUELL mode it works much betterI tested the resistance on the cabin temp sensor in the passenger vent and it is working I also have gotten into the car twice over the 4 years or so of ownership and the entire Climate Control panel/module is Blank and non-responsive - i pull the plugs plug it back in and it works So.....thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these refurbished Climate control modules from a reputable place but i am opposed to throwing expensive parts at a problem....anything else to check? Thanks |
