997 S ride quality over long distance? Amazing!

Hey folks,

I'm now the proud second owner of a 2008 911 S Cab with sport package, 6 spd, sport seats and PASM.

My bemused wife and I flew across Canada to pick it up and completed a 4.5 day 2700 mile (4300km) road trip home. I was worried about the 19" wheels and the sport seats being too harsh on repeated 9 hour driving days but at the end of each day she got out and commented on being surprised that she wasn't feeling road weary or stiff and sore at all! I initially chalked up my lack of discomfort to adrenalin and the joy of realizing my dream but even at the last day I wasn't sore.

We're 40-somethings and this is the first P-car in our family. I am shocked that both the car and us just shrugged off driving across the continent. Stock Michelin Pilot Sports are mounted.

I would not hesitate to recommend the S to anyone- this was an EPIC road trip.

I like the painted seat backs... I think that always brings the outside of the car in.

Funny you should mention that. Detectors have always been legal in Alberta and I've used one for years. I took it with me for the US leg of the trip back but in my excitement I mounted it up the morning of day 2 just as we were about to leave Ontario.
I'm not speeding but get pulled over. OPP says detectors are illegal in Ontario. I say "I'm not speeding and am from Alberta. I'll be across the border in a few minutes". He says "I seize all detectors" and also gives me a $170 fine. Ontario tourism board lifetime member...

I drive from there all the way back 3000 odd miles w/o a detector and no tickets.

I hope it wasn't a really good detector! I was lucky enough to have bought my 911 with a built-in detector with warning lights in the dashboard. Nothing hanging on the windshield!

No worries! It was at least 10 years old and the city/highway button wasn't working anyway.
After we got back underway my darling wife said "I figured you were going to upgrade that thing anyway..."

Happiness is learning to drive this thing quickly around corners.
