996 Drop in air cleaner
Looking for suggestions for a drop in air cleaner that is reusable?
I have heard of K&N---also folks saying the oil messes with the MAP. I have also heard of AFE. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the OEM filter, the after market units add nothing positive, but can casue problems. Stay with stock.................

The stock air filter is the best one to use. The K&N filter does a worse job of filtration and the oil can mess up the sensor.
The stock airbox is actually a cold air filter.

I had a K&N in the air box when I purchased the car.
They require "oiling" on one side. The oil can cause problems withs the mass air flow sensor (MAF). The previous owner had problems with the MAF because he oiled both sides. I took it out and replaced it with a dry paper filter (OEM) and have never had any trouble. |
