Best Oil/Additives for 997

I just bought a 2005 Carrera 997 with 3.8L engine. It has 67,000 miles and runs great. I have the service records and it has always run Mobil 1 full synthetic. I want to use the "best oil"and change it every 3000 miles or so. What is the best oil to run in these engines? How about additives?

The "best oil additive" is rather simple: None. If you run good oil, you don't need additives. As for which oil; that is a subject that starts wars and ends friendships............

Oils: What motor oil should I use? Which oil is best for my Porsche or aircooled engine?
Then scroll down to the section titled
What oil should I use in my newer Porsche requiring a "Porsche approved" oil, like the M96 or later Porsche engine
Straight from the master Charles Navarro..... And you won't loose any friends.

IMHO changing the oil every 3000 miles (unless it has been 12 months prior) is a waste of time, money, oil, etc.

I track my car, and ran it with ~250 miles of tracking @ 125 to 145MPH, most of it at 90 to 100°+, and ~750 street miles . Sent in my oil samples (engine, trans, and differential) to Blackstone for an analysis. The results basically said that running all the fluids twice as long before the next oil/filter change would be fine.

Contact Blackstone for a kit, send in your oil samples and let the results guide you to what you think is best.

+1. Stay away from additives and only use approved oil.
