996 Turbo Exhaust Installation

Hi.

I recently removed an aftermarket exhaust on my newly acquired 996 Turbo. Now I am about to install the OEM exhaust but I do not undestand how to install the muffler straps. Anyone who have some instructions / DIY guide ? I have not managed to find anything online on this.

Move the rear muffler into installation position and push the two tensioning straps over
the holder on the engine carrier. Subsequently tighten the two hexagon socket head bolts. Tighten restraining straps on the rear muffler.
Tightening torque: (11 ftlb.)

Thanks for the reply. However, it's the "push the two tensioning straps over the holder on the engine carrier" step I am struggling with. Maybe I tightened them to much while mounting them on the exhaust itself. Do you have any pictures of how they should look like when mounted on the exhaust ?

I'm not sure if this will be helpful for a 996 Turbo, but maybe see if the article on the 996 Carrera below might be helpful.

The 996 Turbo has a different exhaust set up. The mufflers on the Carrera are house in the side of the quarter panels were as the the Turbo has the intercooler in each side of the quarter panels. The exhaust on the turbo are attached to the engine carrier via steel straps and a bracket. The straps hold the bracket in place and the bracket is bolted to the engine carrier. I will try to post a photo of this from my Turbo to aid in Mr.Weiss installation.

The arrow #1 are the bolts that hold the bracket to the engine carrier. Arrow 2 is the bracket that is straped to the muffler. Hope this helps you.

Loosen the muffler strap so that you can slide the mounting bracket one side at a time under the straps then tighten the strap bolts. Now you can bolt the the complete unit to the engine carrier.
