Will the key work after you put it in the ignition? How much time is passing between when you use the car?

I bought an 03 Targa and it started having the same issue. Door lock, trunk or hatch worked sporadically. It had a new battery in it,but it still did not work.
I was told that I needed a new key by a friend who works at a local Porsche specialty shop. He could not order one, so it was ordered by a dealer, then they had to program it. Very costly!!!

I thank all of you for your replies....
I will have to check my settings because there were no notices that there were responses. The problem persists....The car will lock but not unlock, then it will unlock but then not lock. Phil Noble, I think I will have to order a new key and go through the 'costly' process you went through. How costly was it? Thanks |

I had to order the key thru a dealer from Germany, showing car ownership of course. Once it comes in(about 2 weeks), you take all your keys and have them programed together(about 1 hour). $500+ later, you have a new fully working key and a backup key that still works sporadically.
Call your local dealer, and discuss what they need in order to get a key. Good luck!
