Today's Autox
Super Bummed. This was by far my quickest time but it wasn't recorded because I got too close to the driver in front of me at the finish line and the computer system couldn't tell the difference between us. I am guessing it was around 51.1 ish but I got a 51.6 on another run. recorded

Awesome run! What car are you in? I haven’t AutoX’d my 911 yet. Honestly a bit scared too. I have a Boss mustang that I use as my AutoX car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you!
The car is 1965 912 with a 2.7 What are your concerns about autox'ing your 911? As you already know autox is a good place to test the limits of you and your car. PS, I am envious of your 84, I have been looking for one (not Red) since it's my birth year. |

Ok cool! How is the power in a 2.7. Mainly fear of damaging it. Even though I’ve never done any real damage to my Mustang AutoX’ing. I totally agree with the limits testing and that needs to be done in this car so I know where the limit is. Totally different than a 450hp modern muscle car. I am trying to ID some good seat as my head hits the ceiling at the moment. There is no way in hell I am getting in there with a helmet. Thanks! It’s been a car of my dreams for years! It has some good power but the car is light, so it feels like a go kart.
Just make sure your wheel/tires, brakes, fluids are topped off and you should be fine. It would be awesome to see how you handle the P car over the Stang, totally two different cars, DON'T LIFT ![]() Maybe you can find a Recaro seat and lower the seating position. |

That is what I have noticed just driving it around town and some light spirited driving on some mountainous back roads. Go kart is the best description for this car! I just got it back together. Gotta change the oil soon and throw some fresh transmission fluid in to then it should be ok. Accept for the seat situation. What seat are you running? I am intrigued by the difference. The mustang had power for days and revs to the moon. At least for an American muscle car!(7500) now that I am running rt660s and 295s all the way around it has grip for days too. But the car doesn’t feel connected to the road. I expect to have that in spades in the 911. How is not having power steering? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am running a vintage set of Recaro Profi SPGs, with custom bases because there isn't a bracket for an early car.
![]() I have my rev limiter is set to 7500 through an MSD, and I think you can get a dizzy rotor for 6800 or 7500, if you want. Those will be some fun tires for a first time, forsure. You only need power steering at low speed, once you reach 20mph you wont be able to tell the difference, if you have it or not. |

A stock 3.2L isn’t recommended to exceed the factory redline unless it has ARP rod bolts. Redline on 3.2L are set by the chip in the ECU. Need an aftermarket eprom tune to change the redline. With ARP rod bolts and well setup valve train 7200-7300 is the accepted max recommended RPM until you start changing valve springs and rods.
3.0L stock are good to 7000 ish because of the larger factory rod bolts. These the redline is controlled by the distributor rotor if so equipped. Early 911S I think is 7300…… but they all vary a bit depending on the actual spring in the rotor. Only really of importance for Autocross as none of them will make much power over 6500 with stock cams and intake. Last edited by Evan Fullerton; 11-22-2022 at 04:51 PM.. |
