Mid Ohio DE Oct 13-15
Just a note since everyone was asking, I did not have an off track or spin experience at Mid Ohio this weekend. Ending my 3 consecutive offtrack/spin occurrences.
One may want to ask Rick Wartenburg his experience this weekend.... Great weekend...bit cold, but dry. I personally made up valuable time in every aspect of the track. Bill! your gonna luv your PSS9's....!!! |

Go ahead, stir that pot Jerry Babuc.
I did loop the car once (a little over a 180). After I was bumped to B group, and was trying to hang with some of the big dogs up through Thunder valley. I was in a fairly hard right hander where the track fades away. The front end unloaded. I didn't open the wheel enough before unloading. As the car settled down the back end had already started around. Made a little noise, but really a non-event. My fault, I was off line to the inside & should have opened the wheel earlier. Most fortunate part was 1) there wasn't anyone remotely near behind me 2) the whole thing carried me off the line. Overall, what a GREAT weekend. I had one mechanical issue. My throttle linkage came undone under the engine near the transmission. One of the ball & socket type connections. I recently had some transmission work done. I am assuming that when they removed the engine/tranny they may have worn the socket to the point where it no longer holds the ball in tight. temp fix: piece of duct tape over the ball to fit tighter. Then safety wire around the "neck" of the ball side then up around the socket side and tightened where the socket piece threads onto the throttle cable. Thanks to Jerry and Pat, Carston, Rich and all !

I'll try to post a couple of pics from the historics portion of the weekend.
There were a lot of cool cars there, unfortunately I didn't get my camera out for a LOT of up close photos. I was pretty busy. There was also a #20 917 kit an Elva kit that looked VERY nice along with a bunch of cars from Mershon. The 917 looked to be running a 3 liter 6 cylinder with a decorative black plastic free spinning 917 style flat fan over the real engine.

On Sunday morning, we woke up to a HEAVY frost on the windows at the hotel. Ironically, Sunday turned out to be the best day of the whole weekend.
Here's a token gratuitous photo of my back window that morning with some frost still on.

You know I had to get them off my a$$ for a change. All we need to do during the winter is find that big cigar your car smokes in the corners!

Bill,
My rational brain should have opened the steering wheel like a good boy would have done... I was trying a couple of different new lines through the hard right turn up into Thunder Valley and my Testosterone brain didn't want to let Jerry's 3.6 an RS America, and a RSR out-run my little 2.2, so I was trying to cut the angle. Guess what 1) I was using the wrong brain and 2) it didn't work !!
