You can use Lindsey Racing, Jong Bloed, Kinesis, Fikse, CCW, and BBS to name a few. Lindsey Racing requires that you provide 4 donor 16x6's for the centers. Jong Bloed can make any size wheel that you need. Kinesis has recently been sold to a non-competition oriented company so the verdict is still out whether or not their product and/or customer service will change. CCW is out of Florida and is the least expensive of these options. BBS is limited to one size so the others are better options. Fikse is good quality and can also be made to custom widths.

You can go with 17x8 and 9's with enough camber and rolling or cutting out the fender lips. The east coast PCA racers have been able to fit 245's and 275's under stock body work. You probably don't need to go this wide so 225's and 245's will work fine for most appilcations.

You can also go with 18 inch wheels in 8 and 9 inch widths with the same tire sizes mentioned above.

I chose to go with Jong Bloed racing wheels because they are made in Morgan Hill, CA to you specifications, have rapid turn around time, and have a great reputation for light weight and durability.

Ruf wheels are available in 8 x 17 and 9 x 17 with the right offsets. 225/45 and 255/40 fit nicely on them. And they look good too.

You can't make a racehorse out of a bull, but you can make an awfully fast bull.

Porsche Crest

do you guys think the 17's would be a better track rim and tire combo then 16's?

There is more choices in rubber in 17 than 16.

I currently use Kodiaks 17x7.5 and 17x9. The prices are great. I have also used Kinesis in the past in the same sizes. 225/45 front and 255/40 rears fit with no rubbing anywhere.

Cheers

I'm assuming that you are using your car for DE's as I see no mention of car classification in your previoius posts. POC and NASA rule the tracks down under so if you even think you will time trial or race in the future you should look at what is allowed in the classes that your car fits in.

Yes, 17 inch wheels and tires are better for the track. There are many more tires to chose from. There are many more sizes to chose from. That said, 18 inch wheels and tires will also work. Many competitors on the east coast take advantage of the PCA Stock rules to run 18x8 and 18x9 inch wheels and 245/275 tire combination. This gives you a low and stiff side wall. The 17 inch wheels and tires are significantly less expensive than the same products in the 18 inch sizes. They also look nicer on pre-964 cars. Take your time. the track season is over. Determine what you are after before you narrow you choices. That should help make the decision easier.

i am planning to runs with POC and some other race clubs. in POC i'll probably end up in the improved class and i know that i have to run the stock 16x7 and 16x8. i'm just trying to find some rims that i can use when i race with the other clubs, because it's a hassle mounting and balancing tires on one set of wheels.
