Smile PCA opens up 911 cup and spec boxster

"I'm pleased to inform you that PCA Club Racing is inviting SpecBoxster, 911Cup (PRC), and Vintage 911 racers to participate in the Phoenix, Cal Speedway, Las Vegas and Texas World Speedway races in 2008. We've paid attention to the requests and in response, are inviting racers with those cars to take part in our races. Chad and Jason, please spread the word among your fellow racers.

As with all PCA club races, to participate it will be necessary to be a current PCA member, as well as hold a current PCA club racing license.
However, for participants in these classes currently racing with other sanctioning bodies, the license approval process should be a snap. Regular PCA club racing safety rules will also apply to these cars, but we do not anticipate any problem with their compliance.

If there is adequate interest in these classes they will be added to the other PCA club racing classes for the balance of 2008. Stay tuned."

Bruce

So Bryan does this mean that if you have a 911 PCA updated stock racecar that currently meets 911Cup specs, you will be able race at these forementioned events with the "stock classes" race groups or would you have to race in GT run groups? Would your class designation be 911Cup or some sort of GT* slot? (e.g GT2S as it was for me at Hallett).
I would love to forgo my current winter vaccum booster addition project and changing out my 5th gear if I could run in PCA Stock run groups as a PRC 911Cup car. I would lose out on the prize money and bragging rights of course!

The PCA Cal Speedway event is the same weekend as Vara's Willow Springs enduro. If Patrick is not able to attend the enduro, I plan on racing with the PCA. SOOOOO many Porsches.

Also the Vegas race would be fun. It looks like it is the outside track, so we would not have to learn a new track. That falls on VARA's BW race.

I was going to blow off TWS but if I can run under my NASA/PRC log book with other 911cup spec cars, then it's back on the schedule!

Quigs, Bryan never responded to my post (and has been two months!). It would be a long trip to Aggieland to race with the GT cars. I would strongly suggest you get confirmation which run group you will be playing in before you commit.

It appears PCA's own Donna Amico approved of the BoxsterSpec showing at Las Vegas!! She had a copy of the rules on hand and went over the car carefully

35k and that includes two extra sets of wheels. That is about the max we can get into the cars. It obviously depends on the base cost of the car and what you are charged for your fab work.

You have somebody in Austin right now building a car in his garage. His name is Eric Shaffer. He raced a 951 with PCA for years

Check out the site. You will soon have 10+ cars in Texas within the next few weeks.

We are also building a Spec Boxster as well as Rob's in Dallas. I think there are 4-5 being built right now in Texas.

Kemo -- if you want to know more about it, I can put you in touch with Eric. We work together, along with yet another PCA racer who is helping him build the Spec Boxster.

I sent you contact info via PM. By the way, if you're going to be at the LSR DE in June, both West and I will be there, not sure about Eric and his Boxster.
