Wow, awesome build. Plenty of due diligence going on. Look forward to seeing and hearing it go.

Very nice build. But I'm a little worried about the rear shock towers. It's my understanding, if you are going to use rear coilovers you must reinforce the shock towers. I didn't notice any reinforcement.

Also what paint did you use single or double stage. I'm painting my race car and thinking: since it's only going to the track a single stage is adequate.

armandodiaz, I used single stage but sanded it down and cleared it. As for the shock towers yes if you are going to race full time only I would reinforce the towers, This car is going to be a my street daily and weekend racer- hill climb racing, some auto cross or solo events. With running a business I cant race full time anymore. If i ever need to add reinforcement later I can do that but with the coilover i used they are for both street and race. From what they told me I would be just fine with the set up I used.
333pg333, I am right with you. I want to hear it run and drive it so bad. every day I have to walk around it in the shop I just want it done. being on a budget to build this car is why it is not done yet. If money grew on trees it would have been done long ago. should have it running soon. I will post a video for sure when I fire it up.
thanks guys

OK that makes sense.

I was also a little concerned about the suede on the dash and keeping it clean (especially on the off-road executions).

Erghhh, I couldn't handle seeing it every day and not being able to drive it. That would be hard to take. How long has it been now? Mines been in a shop since late 2010 getting built and it's getting close. Very hard waiting for it to be finished. Couldn't handle actually being there with it. I'd be pushing so hard to get it done. I feel for you!

well this build was only going to be a 6 month project but has turned into a 3yr project due to my shop being so busy and not getting the time to work on it during the day. I get a few hours a week to work on it and sometime a month will go by and I don't even get a chance to work on it. but its so close but yet so far away. would love to see some photos of anyones car project or a link to view the photos. The best part is my wife supports me on this build and said I don't ever have to sell it. She wants to go for a ride just as bad as i do.
I will get some photos up soon of the recent work i have done with the rear harness.

I feel your pain. After coming home from work I don't have the energy to go work on it. I've tried selling it a couple of times, but then feel guilty that I didn't complete it, then get remotivated and start working on it again. Mine was suppose to be a 1yr project....

5 yrs later....

Armando,
Is the double roof make it run faster?

Norbert Singer used a double roof on the 935 to make it more aerodynamic and therefore faster.

Well, it was only double because he had to keep the old roof panel and rear window to comply with the rules.

That's great, the support!!!!!

As for the project length, did you factor in the 'rule of thrice'?

It's easy, take your prior-to-starting, and very lenient projected amount of time, and multiply it by three! Sounds like you're going a bit longer though

Anyway, nicely done. I enjoy seeing very cleanly done builds like this. You have an unreal amount of hours into this car, and should be lauded! Just keep on thinking of driving it.....

Congrats!

Be safe, have a good evening!

Cheers

Tried to start it today but found a bad crank sensor, Still need a fuel cell - any donations would be great.

So it was not a crank sensor it ended up being one power wire in my harness I did not have hooked up. The harness does not use any DME relay to run but I needed an extra power to get it to fire up. Now it's just some of the little things left to do.
