Feedback on Bridgestone RE11 ???
Hey guys,
My Dunlop Dirrezza Star Specs are at the end of their usable life and i was considering replacing them with Bridgestone RE11's ... Car is an 89 911 and tire size is 235/40/17 and 255/40/17 The car sees between 12-15 track days per season and is driven on the street as well.I've been very happy with the Dunlops but they are harder to get in the Montreal area and the RE11's seem to have good reviews on the tire forums. Does anybody have a comparison/feedback after having tried both brands ? Cheers ! Phil

No personal experience with those, but also consider Kuhmo's new "XS."

Hankook's RS3 were rated best performer and had the fastest autocross time of all comers in the 140-200 treadwear range. Beat the RE11's and beat the StarSpecs by a full half second on a 55sec course. Cheapest of all of them, too!

RE-11's rock for DE's. No experience with autocross. Took me 2 events to dial them in and now I love them.

I have a set of the RE-11s and they are a good auto x tire for both the rain and dry. On the track they are very similar to the Star specs but better in the rain. I would tell you its splitting hairs trying to compare the two. That being said when you factor in cost the Star Specs are cheaper and I will go back to them when my RE-11s are done.

Cost maters. These tires (and other max performance street) age harden just like a R-comp (well, not as fast). I would rather be able to have two sets of slightly lower performance tires, since once they start to harden, a new slightly lower spec tire will still be better.
I have the RT-615Ks on my 968 and I think I'll be replacing them before they wear out, due to hardening and loss of performance. Just a thought... |

Interesting comment. I went with the RE-11's because they were reported to last a lot longer than the Dunlap's After 6 track days mine are at least 50% remaining. Unfortunately I won't know how long they really last because I retired the SC after the event last weekend.
