911ST vs. 911 GT3 RS :)
I had some fun playing with some big boy cars on Friday. It's amazing what you can do when you become determined :P . I was really pushing, and getting the tires hot. That Viper Green GT3RS was beautiful! Start around the 8:00 mark- That's when I see it in the distance.

Hi Chad, this is David Mendez/pacific plumbing i was parked one car away, 74 gp white targa #27.
i was at the DE this Friday and saw you run from the balcony, catch and pass the green gt. your car looks and sounds amazing! since you have racing experience how does one get involved in racing Porsches, do you have to complete a number of DEs first? does other racing experience count, i am a national shifter kart driver with the IKF with over ten races a year for over 10 years but would like develop and race my 74 911 any suggestions will be appreciated. your car looks planted in turn 3, what brand and compound are your tires? how long / heat cycles do they last? |

Great video, great driving, and amazing sounds. you need to make that audio available in a ring tone.

Nice driving as always. But you would have caught him sooner if you'd put some wing on the back of that little rocket!
Shame of it is, he probably had a cafe' americano in the cupholder and the A/C on the whole time you were stalking him........

You guys are funny. Thanks everyone. Proof you do not need the newest cars to have just as much fun!
Kevin- I have a Duck on it now. So I guess i'm kinda cheating. haha. I'll post another quick video of the GT3RS spinning out in front of me, getting all dirty. He was trying really hard at the end of the session to stay ahead of me. I pointed him by because my tires were so darn hot. Plus, I wanted to watch that sweet car in action.David- thanks for the comments. If you want to get into racing, you will need to get a license from whatever group you want to race with. I'm sure they may take into consideration your previous experience, but you will still need to be a rookie with a "provisional" license I imagine. The POC has a great license program at great tracks. It's all Porsches, so you will be hanging out with like minded individuals. As for the tires, since I was just playing around that day, I was using flat spotted/old Hoosier R6's. I typically get about 15 heatcycle$ out of them. I figure each time I go out on the track, it costs me $85 in tires, and $60 in gas for 30 min....... Once you get to the end of their life, they become practice tires. I wish I could use new (Different) rubber, but Hoosier is the only show in town with my 15 inch rims (245/50 and 275/50).

Very nice video. Brings back memories... I have not driven down there since 2002. I see some changes.
Outstanding driving. Two very different vehicles to be sure! The quality of the video is outstanding. Can you share further technical information about how it was created? I am curious about: Which camera was used? What were the settings? Was the camera tied into the Traqmate system? If so, how? Which SW program(s) was(were) used to create the final posted video? Thanks for sharing! - Mike

Thanks Mike.
That's just a GoPro Hero 3 Black edition. Set at 1080/60 frames/ medium width I believe. GoPro really stepped up the audio with the 3. It is much better. I tie in the traqmate data and video with Trackvision 2.0 software. It's really simple. 1. Export Traqmate data from session to desktop 2. Open up Trackvision 2.0 3. Choose video file you want inside Trackvision (works with all sorts of loggers) 4. Choose the exported traqmate data file from desktop. 5. Manually sync the video to the data (takes a little time to get perfect) 6. "Latch" video/data when you find the correct sync. 7. Click "Make Movie" That's it. Once you make one, it becomes really simple.
