Fender Damage from Tire Kick Up
My air-cooled race car does not have inner fenders in the wheel wells and the fiberglass is getting damaged by kick up. The front is where it is really noticeable.
What solutions have you found to this problem? I was thinking about epoxying some type of medium density rubber (neoprene maybe) in the areas where the damage is occurring. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks! P.S. Toby, this is your chance to be useful!!

Foam. Black, buy a roll from McMaster Carr or Granger. Spray glue. No long term damage, saves your paint.

I have thermoformed thin polypropylene sheets in the underside of fenders and glassed the corners in to keep them put. Right about 300 degrees and the sheet of plastic roughly cut to size will lay into an upside down fender like a sheet of paper. Adds a couple pounds but the stars go away and it won't hold moisture.

Yep, I've done that!

Ummm how about rubberized spray undercoating? Always worked for me. One coat is 2mm thick and does the trick and is very light.

I bought 1/2 inch thick high impact rubber foam from McMaster Carr. Cut to fit fender shape over tire. Glued into place with 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Then covered with a thin layer of Fiberglas. Never had another issue with stones.

Toby,
I am not a split tail nor do I drive like a guy that is one.......so I have no direct experience with that type of product. P.S. I am still waiting for a response in the CV joint cage thread.
