1987 944 Turbo Track Car - $11000
Hope everyone is safe and well.
I am selling my 944 Turbo after just a year of ownership because my desires for the car changed, and I believe a better fit could be found. Initially purchased with the intent to use it for HPDE, I have now realized the car really does not fit my needs. The car is an honest project with much progress made, but a bit more to go. Mileage currently sites at 94,736. Purchased in September 2019 with 92,300. Modifications: 1. Magnaflow catless 5in. stainless exhaust 2. "Big red" 993 Turbo front brakes 3. Rennline braided stainless brake lines 4. Drilled rotors all around 5. AEM a-pillar mounted wideband sensor, Autometer boost gauge 6. Rothman's Cup spec Bilstein Escort coilovers (the green ones) 7. Bolt-in roll cage 8. MOMO Prototipo steering wheel installed 9. Fikse FM10 wheels 10. Koenig seats I purchased the car in September 2019 from a dealer in Northern NJ, lacking any previous records. The car was most definitely involved in a collision, though the Carfax say otherwise. As you can see in the photo, the front end has panel alignment issues, and use of parts from a red donor car are evident throughout the front end. I metered the passenger side fender as having 50mils of paint, so the repair was subpar to say the least. I do not have any details on the accident. Knowing that the timing belt was more than likely a ticking time bomb, I brought the car to Cheech at Rennwerke in Elmsford to go through it and do a post-purchase inspection. They performed the following: - Full timing belt, roller, water pump and front seal replacement - Replaced all coolant lines - Replaced J-boot, turbo-to-IC hose and IC-to-throttle body hose - Replaced DME temp sensor - Tied waste gate dump back into exhaust - Changed oil, flushed brake fluid, as well as flushed and bled cooling system - Replaced fuse box and battery - Adjusted parking brake This service was about 50 hours coming in around $8000 [I know] I then performed a tune-up on the car, replacing the cap, rotor, plugs, wires and air filter. All OEM Bosch/Mahle/Beru made parts. After the tune-up, the turbocharger suffer FOD from a screw backing out of the AFM/airbox mount. Rennwerke replaced the turbocharger with a rebuilt unit from Lartsparts, as well as the starter motor with a Bosch unit. The injectors were also cleaned and flow matched by Marren. This came in around $3000 [once again, I know] at 22 hours. All four brake rotors (Zimmerman), pads (Hawk HPS), and lines (Rennline braided stainless) were replaced by myself, and the fluid was flushed with ATE200. The big red calipers were repainted and seals were replaced. I also installed a new fuel pressure regulator and silicone Venturi delete/vacuum hose kit. The car pulls strong vacuum (14 inHg cold, 16 warm, 20 on decel), and boosts to 14psi. Three oil changes have been done with 20w50, and a Blackstone analysis was done each time, indicating relative health for an engine of this age and mileage. Known issues: 1. Burning oil on boost - consumes a quart every 750 miles. 2. Flaky AFRs on decel - feels as if injectors stay firing. Tested and replaced TPS with no resolution. 3. Suspension bushings could use a refresh. 4. AC blows warm (shocker!) 5. Windshield is cracked under both wipers due to someone carelessly releasing the wiper arm without a blade. I really wanted this to work out, spending thousands of dollars and many of my own hours, however it isn't going to. If someone picked up where I left of, they could have a great DE/Track car. The car comes with it's original steering wheel, as well as Mille Miglia Turbo Twists. I can include the Fikses and MOMO for an additional cost of $2700.
