1990 C2 with 93 72K engine and trans
Ive decided to go ahead and backdate the chassis of the 93, and tear down and hot rod the engine from the 90. The engine and trans from the 93 are excellent, with 72000 miles. Here is the link to the thread for the 90 I was trying to sell.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=218235
The 93 trans is not limited slip. I really dont want to part out the 93, as it is much to nice a car to waste. My sickness rages on, as I just last weekend acquired an 89 cab project. I will this weekend begin the transplant, should have it done in a day. With this will go the 93 DME, and the 93 power steering rack. $18700 Thanks-Bill Woods If anyone is interested in the interior to the 93, I will probably be selling that as well. It is tan supple leather, in excellent condition. |

Hi Bill. I just got back from FL Monday, 2 May, so I was not able to call you this past weekend.
So you decided to transplant the motor and gearbox from your wrecked 93 C2 with 72k miles to the 90 C2, sell it for $18700 and hot rod the 90 C2 motor for future needs? Cool. I am still interested. Shoot me pics of the 93 motor and gearbox before you pull it out and we'll go from there. Please send me the compression and leakdown test numbers on the 93 motor also. Thanks. Talk to you later. email address: s29441990@yahoo.com

OK-I am selling my 1990 C2 with a transplanted 1993 engine and trans with 72000 miles for $18700. the links in my previous posts are to details about both cars, which I had attempted to sell here, one a 1990 C2 with leaky head/cylinder and 170000 miles, and a 1993 C2 that was damaged and mostly repaired, with 72000 miles. Gutting and backdating the 93, then putting in some variation of an engine rebuild based on the 170000 mile engine sounds fun. (Its even confusing to me!) Any questions-just call me-270.443.9494 Bill Woods

Mark-
I think the $14000 price was with a tired and leaky 1990 engine. His new price reflects the fact that he is installing a lower mileage engine from a 1993 C2. The later engine includes updates to prevent the leaky cylinder heads.

Hello Bill, Is there any update on this?
What have you decided to do with the 1990 C2? Are you still doing the compression and leakdown documentation on the 93 motor? Thanks. Let me know where you are on this.

Hi everyone-getting started in earnest this afternoon, friday, 06 may. Im really looking forward to this transplant. My first step is to remove the engine from the 90. Should be on the ground in an hour or two. after i get the 90 off the lift, I will raise and do a leak and compression on the 93, then remove the engine and trans, probably tomorrow morning. This whole thing should be done by tomorrow afternoon.I have a couple fellow pelicans who are going to help me, I am looking forward to the company. One will really be a help, the other will sit and drink and watch(he just had foot surgery) While the cars are up this weekend, I am going to swap the power steering racks also. In response to mark, the 90 will be taken apart and completely rebuilt, with some tasty bits I might add! As soon as I have results from the leak and compression, I will post on this thread-thanks to everyone for your private messages and your interest. Bill Woods

ive been invited to a century bike ride tomorrow, first of the season...perfect springtime weather and good friends...the transplant must wait. the 90 engine is out, a lot of the leak was from the power steering o-ring, I would dare to say that the majority of the leak came from here. I thought it was strange that the right side of the case was much worse than the left, this would explain. Having fun!

OK-just completed my leak test on the 93 72000 mile motor. 5% or less on all cylinders. I only warmed the car for about 5 minutes or so. with the leak test complete, on to compression test. One problem, I blew up my compression tester. I knew the hose was getting a little weak. 911s are hard on them it seems because of the heat build up inside the valve covers. I hooked it up to #1, started the engine, opened the throttle, BANG! I thought something expensive just broke. Sounded like a party favor that you blow through. Flipped me out. Needless to say, no compression tests today. Ive got a hard line fitting for my tester, but that requires 2 people, im alone today. I did forget that today was mothers day, and wrenching on a 911 all day..., I really need to be home for dinner, so Im planing to drop the engine this afternoon, and install tomorrow evening. The engine tin is not great, I will try and have it blasted and at least painted by tomorrow. I would like to have it powder coated, but time is an issue. here is a picture of my compression tester, and my leak down rig-Bill

ready to go. had graduation activities this past week, had my time pretty much taken. The 93 engine and trans are in and work perfectly. The speedo pickup is different from 90 to 93, so there will need to be a modification to the harness to make the speedo function. The only other option is to drop the engine, put the 90 trans back on, and swap the engine harness...not really a big deal. If this car doesnt sell this week, I suppose it must wind up on ebay next weekend. $17000 thanks for looking-Bill
