'83 Turbo Look on CL
Noticed lots of people looking for M491s lately. This appears to be a nice one. Wish I had the $$. Check it out. Bay Area, CA.

I don't know if that was a factory option for 1983... anyone?
If so, it could be an awesome deal.

It was an option, but this car is not a M491 car. Note, it is a Euro car, the fenders were put on aftermarket, yet steel, stock running gear, not turbo.

According to my Porsche 911 book, the M491 was not avaiable until 1986 as a option. It cost $12.000.00 Better brakes, wide fenders, but no turbo. I would say this one is a conversion.

I believe the M491 option was available in U.s. dealerships and openly sold in 84. I recently saw records showing the sales in U.S. from 84 to 89.
This car is without a doubt a conversion, I have talked to seller

Yea, I think I've read also about 84-89 M491 cars too. The book I have is from europe, so it might be different.

We've gone through this once in the past, a long time ago.
No factory TL on the SC, in the US or Euro. |

Just meant to say the issue of whether the 491 widebody option was available on the SC from the factory was researched and discussed here a while ago - the conclusion was that it was not. The 491 TL option first became available with the 84 Carrera.
strupgolf, don't post for a while, your post count is ironically exactly at 491!
