1987 m491 Cab - Same owner since 1991 - 54k miles
SOLD
Selling this car for my brother who has owned it since 1991. He purchased it from the original owner with around 12k miles on it. This car is a time capsule, it's been garaged since the day it was purchased and has been a California or Florida car since being owned by my brother. It has been maintained by European Performance in St. Petersburg, FL for the last ~10 years, which is a very well respected shop that specializes in Porsches, with a particular love for the air cooled variants. This car is 100% stock with the exception of the stereo and the air conditioning. The stereo was upgraded to very high end components in 1991 and the head unit was replaced again with an Alpine unit around 2006. They sound good, but could use some freshening up. The air conditioning was upgraded with a "Pro Cooler" under the advice of European Performance and works flawlessly. The car sat garaged for the last 5 years without being driven (car was stored at a house my brother spent very little time at) before I trailered it back to European Performance. The lead mechanic at European Performance spent a month driving it intermittently repairing whatever was needed to bring the car back to a level where it's turn the key and go. For those that are interested I'll provide information on what all has been done. The car is currently at European Performance and they are more than happy to perform a full PPI for any interested buyers. If you have another shop you would like to have perform the PPI that can be arranged as well. So on to the car... This car is a 1987 factory m491 cabriolet. M491 meaning it's a factory widebody car with the 3.2L flat six in the first year they came with the g50 transmission. It's hard to identify exact production numbers and/or the amount of m491 cars that were brought to the United States, but they are very rare. This car being in the condition it's in, with only 54k miles, with the same owner since 1991 makes it even more of a find. This car is in the upper 1% of 911's from this vintage in the country without a doubt and it pains me that I don't have the garage space and means to keep it in the family. On to the pictures… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
