2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo steering lock problem need help

I have a 08 Cayenne and a couple of times over the last year i have gotten in it and there is nothing no start and steering locked... towed to my mechanic and they said the dealer wants 4k to replace the steering column... wtf... they said possibly they could figure out which relay or circuit board causes this problem.... They did however tell me that if I disconnect the battery ground cable on the floor in front of driver seat this would reset the computer and allow the car to start...

I opted to do nothing... It has not happened again. Being very careful when shutting down and starting.

Any ideas out there in Pelican land ..???? for now since I know how to work around it in the event this ever happens again..

Keeping a 10mm small socket in console in the event have to do some quick work...

Please share your thoughts...

I know the first one is .... want to play you got to pay, but that is rediculous....

Thanks
