Looking for advise and input for a 2017 Macan

So I own a 1977 911 that I have had for 30 plus years and I have owned a Boxster but the ex took that.
My fiancée found a 2017 Macan S that she wants to go test drive.
I have no knowledge on this SUV. It's a 6 cylinder twin turbo.
What are things that I should look for when we go check it out?
Do they have any known faults or issues that I should check?

Is it a "sporty" , fast accelerating ride? If you own one are you happy with it? Is it considered the little brother to the Cayenne?

Thanks for any advise and input.
Rick

Wow, this group is a lot different than the 911 group. I would have had 10 to 15 comments already.
I guess Macan owners are not very chatty.

Hi Rick,

I will start, I picked up a CPO 2018 GTS this summer traded in my Panamera. I have an 06 Cayman S for the summer so the Macan is a winter/family hauler vehicle.

The only thing I know about reliability of the Macan’s is the transfer case and broken bolts on timing chain cover gaskets. I believe Porsche extended the warranty on the transfer case to 10 years (verify) and it give a judder at low speed turns so easy to tell. The timing chain cover bolts (I had mine done) used to require engine out to fix but they can now do them in place, but if that doesn’t fix it you will need the gaskets replaced. You can really only tell if you take off the front under panel and look for oil everywhere.

Is it fun to drive, in sport is sure is, handles really well for such a heavy vehicle, and if it has air suspension it’s really smooth. Go for the test drive and enjoy!

I own a '17 Macan GTS and agree with Bob about the known issues to be aware of. If you look under the engine and the protective panel/cover under the engine has any oil wet areas, that's a sure sign of the timing chain cover bolt issue. It could have been fixed and the oil residue remains (it kind of soaks into the fibrous material), but you certainly want to verify. It is a very expensive fix if not covered by an extended warranty or CPO.
