Cayenne Questions

Ok new to the whole Porsche thing and need a couple things done before RIV inspection.

1. How do I convert the electronic Speedo to KM/hr from Miles/hr?

2. What is the best way to go about setting up some Daytime Running Lights? Should I go to a Porsche dealer and have it done or is there a simple home fix to make it work?

3. What about a block heater? what am I looking at to have it installed?

2006 Cayenne S

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Well I found out what I needed.

The turning the OD button for 6 seconds did not work to switch between Miles and Kilometers. The button in a 06 doesn't even turn!

Phoned the Porsche Dealer and booked an appointment. I was told I would be in and out in 1/2 hour and they would get the Daytime Running Lights working plus switch the Miles to Kilometers. Total charge would be $60

As for the Block Heater I was told that no factory Porsches come with a block heater option and is not needed. Is this true?

Anyways, happy with thePorsche Service Tech. Going for RIV Inspection on Tuesday.

Hi,
Did you figure out how to switch from mph to kph?
That quote for DRL's is very reasonable, I was quoted over $250 for the same thing
Which Cayenne did you import?

I can walk you thru that mph/kph switchover, as I just did the same thing on our Cayenne.

Well.... after actually reading the manual I figured out why I could not see the settings I wanted to change. The vehicle has to be motionless for changes to be made. Changed the Speedo from Miles to KM in Main Menu. Settings> Units> Speedometer. Also changed Temperture to °C. I prefer to know Gas Milage and Tire Pressure in Imperial.

Still working on the DDL, and also trying to figure how to make the alarm sound when activated. Alarm works but the activation chirp has been disabled I believe?

Mine isn't showing the tire pressure for some reason but the alarm chirp does sound.

Yes, there are limited options when the vehicle is moving.

I know the TPMS is an option.

Car is a 06 Cayenne S.

Did you get the Daytime Running Lights working?

I have to read the Nav manual to see if I can covert it to KM's as well?

Once the DDL are up and working the Inspection will be a breeze.

You must have the dealer activate the DRL's its an OBD type set up which we cannot do but the dealer can activate within minutes.
Which dealer did you get the quote from? I find some are more reasonable than others.
The RIV process is fast and easy at CTC, depending on location, you dont even need an appt.
I had ours done within about 10 minutes.

You're lucky, I didnt get the TPMS by the looks of it! Does the tire pressure show up as an option on the menu list you just went thru?

My NAVI is converted to kms also, but I think that happens when you set the mph to kph so check it again now that you have converted the speedo.

Otherwise, touch the SET button on the Navi console when active and I think it may also be an option there. You can raise/lower the Navi guide volume and select male/female voice as well.

Once active, hit the toggle switch on the right control and the navi directions appear in front of you as well.

I have imported plenty of trailers and motorbikes, this is the first full blown vehicle. Not to worried about the RIV/Out of Province inspection after seeing them do all the trailers and bikes. Just want to make sure everything is as it should be. Not sure on the French Airbag stickers though?

Alberta Porsche Dealership is who I talked to.

Bought the car in AL. Porsche Dealer was very helpful for the inspection and Recall letter that originally sold the car.

This was my first and the only issue was some damage to the vehicle when I picked it up.

Mine is from CA and I got the letter directly from PCNA.

Ontario dealership quoted me $250 - $1500 so I had it done in the US at a Porsche dealer for $65 usd just prior to having it shipped up.

What colour and was yours a private deal? I wanted the S but the MRS wanted the V6 due to her lead foot! We test drove the S and was it ever fast!!

Then I definitely dont have the TPMS

We do have Navi, Sunroof, 18" Turbo wheels and Olive wood pkg. Unfortunately no BiZenon headlights.....but, when you buy "pre-enjoyed" Porsches you take the best you can find at that time!

Too bad I didnt wait a week, the CDN dollar went par! You must have just imported yours as well??

Bought it from a Caddilac Dealer in AL. Pretty cheap I thought. Took it to the Porsche Dealer that sold the car originally and they inspected and gave me the printout on their letterhead from the VIN check for Recalls. Nicely optioned car for sure. Titanium Metallic, 20" Techno Wheels. Have the original Window sticker which made it easy to see how it was optioned.

Well I bought the dollar just short of par, but when it went up just past par while I was driving it back that saved some cash on the Duty and GST. I think they vauled the car just a little less then I paid for it. Sweet deal I thought!! It was a .00016 of a point but still very nice to see when they are figuring out Duties and Taxes!

Sounds nice, ours was a private deal. The truck is white with a havana beige interior. Also took it to the original dealer for inspection. Owner gave me all the records including window sticker.
If you haven't already, join the Porsche Club of America. www.pca.org and find your local club.
Its a great learning experience and you meet some really nice people with similar interests.

Was not really looking to purchase a Cayenne always just kept an eye out on them. Was looking for a SUT or some other truck then this one came up.

Oh BC Powder is basically crushed Asprin. It is a US thing for sure. Looks a little funny when you open up the paper to a bunch of white powder, but it works really good!

Blockheater

There is a blockheater available ,
atleast a company named DEFA claims so in their website.

It is not a "normal" , water heating thing , but heats the oil inside the engine.
It is a unit , that will be clamped outside ( yes , outside ) the oilpan. Thus heating the oilpan from the side & oil inside.

Will be buyin one for myself soon too , will be installed in my wifes 04 V6.
I donīt know if they have one for S or T models ?
