Buying a Cayenne Turbo at Acution?
I just heard on the Off Topics forum that car dealers are seeing 04-05 Turbos selling for the mid $20s at wholesale auctions. Locally the dealers in my area are asking for the mid $30s. I would be sorely tempted by a Cayenne Turbo in the mid $20s and I could buy one directly from a dealer who would buy it at auction for a nominal flat fee. Does anyone have any experience buying Cayennes at auction? Does this sound like a good idea? Is there anything to look for on the early models? I have also read that Cayenne interiors feel cheap and plasticy. Does that hold true to the Turbos with their full leather interior too?

I haven't heard anything like the RMS issue for Cayennes. Is there any word on recalls or known design weaknesses?

04s are currently going for upper mid 20s (27-28K), with roughly 40K-50K miles on them, at auction.
I think part of the low price is because those, I think, are out of warranty. |

Still, that's not bad for a $100,000 truck, six years later, is it? I have read that there is a great difference between the S models and the Turbos. I know they get about 13 mph, but are there any reliability issues that will drive up the ownership cost?

70+ micro processors comes to mind... Personally, I would never own one of those after it's past warranty. Much like owning any current Audi! I understand that they can be electrical nightmares...

I wouldn't own an Audi, but I'm happy with the 955s.
MRM, you can find full leather in the S. It is a very nice option, tho' the vinyl has got to be much easier to care for.

Man if you could get an 05 turbo for mid 20's I'd jump all over that.
I would talk to a dealer first to see what's involved with getting a used pepper put on CPO. I "think" they can just do an inspection and take your money and this gives you two more years added onto the warranty. Well worth it in my opinion.
