I have a brand new S and its using a lot more oil than I think a new car should. My last 2 cayenne S never used a drop.
Any one else going through oil like BP in their new Cayenne?

I'm monitoring my on my 05 turbo, it uses a lot. I spoke to the service manager and he said this was normal based on how they make the cylinders.
I am using about a litre every 700-1000 miles.

No, that's not pragmatic or accurate.
1. It is true to some extent that very large cylinder bore diameters do have a slight or extra amount of blow by then that of say a smaller cylinder bore. And this is true to some extent on boost applications. But not 1liter at 700-1000miles. 2. It's un acceptable, you really need to discuss this again with management. If the manager is un-willing or not capable of creating a solution, then you need to contact Porsche NA or Contact Porsche AG if you are not getting satisfactory results. 3. For the love of god, do also make sure that they infact are filling the engine with enough oil, you'd be suprised at the thinking of some, they get worried or hyper cautious and sometimes the tech is in a rush, being pissed on by superiors, lazy, etc and they are short half a quart or sometimes a quart short. Also what kind of climate do you live in, you may require a different viscosity. However, Porsche needs to make it right. Good Luck-

Hate to be a party pooper, but Porsche know this, there were issues with the 2004 build, scraper rings, but they would use over 2 litres around 1000Km's.
In speaking with a friend he checked his owners manual and it states, oil consumption could be as much as 1.6 quarts every 800 miles, so a litre every 1000km's is about right; not that I agree with it. Just to humor you I will get the official word from Porsche and post here. Bob

Yes, like Toyota, like Lotus, Ferrari, Porsche too post these sorts of ( we know we are bad ) but we are not going to make it right, part of Porsche ownership, crap.
If you are un happy they need to make it right. That's more so where I am comming from. Rediculious the car is consuming that much, yes up too is possible but that does not mean it should be consuming. I also differenciate Porsche AG/NA and a Dealership. Last but not least, Dragon how do you like you're Wrangler I am thinking of getting one. I want to run things over in the middle of a desert. \-_- /hehe -

I would not recommend the wrangler. I can't wait to get rid of it. Build quality is crap. It's fun with the roof off and in the sand but horrible the rest of the time. FYI the 2011 has a totaly new interior

( haha ) @ Dragon, so I am told they are complete utter drives but great fun.
It was that or a old school Toyota Land Cruiser. Good to hear that the majority of Wrangler owners think they are complete POS. ( laughs )

My 03 Turbo drinks about 1 quart every 1,500 miles. Has been doing so for the last 3 years and 9,000 miles of ownership.

Fwiw, my 04 turbo consumes oil around town, but on long trips not a drop.
Which is exactly what all the Porsche and BMW tech bulletins describe as normal. |
