p0336 code 2004 ctt

having and issue after starting and reaching 2000rpm PSM light coming on and eng stumbles. CEL light comes on next. Car stumbles on part throttle and will stall at WOT. Scanned durametric got p0336 code. Followed troubleshooting found online and after testing harness replaced the CrankPS. Cleared codes test drove and problem came back immediately. Not sure where to go from here wondering if a camshaft sensor could be causing the issue. Any ideas? New plugs, air filter, cleaned MAF, fixed a couple vac leaks

cam angle sensor, pain in the ass to get to but cheap to swap to a new one. Make sure you do not get anythting onto it while you are putting it in.

Update: hooked up the durametric again and was watching values of the cam sensors and bank 2 was showing -99 and bank 1 looked normal. Thought I found the problem for sure so I replaced the sensor on bank 2 with the one off the old engine. Cleared code and took it for a test drive and the PSM light came on again immediately. Bummer! ENG speed cam angle all looked good but the p0336 code wont go away. With nowhere else to go I figured I must have bumped the flexplate when installing the engine. I pulled the crank sensor out and fixed the end of my borescope so that I could watch the tone ring as I rotated the engine. It looked good until I got to the spot on the tone ring where the crank position is referenced there is an extra large cutout and it appeared distorted and slightly bent in. I could fit the end of a 3/8 extension in the one from the old engine with room to spare but when I tried to do the same through the cps hole in the bellhousing in the ctt it wouldn't fit. I ground a little off an old extension so that i could insert it into the ring then I twisted it to spread the opening apart and worked it until it was about the same as the old one. Put it all back together and test drove the car. No codes! and it runs like a champ! Lesson learned here the tone ring on the flexplate can be easily bent so use care when mating up the transmission and the engine!
