No 16”, just 15”

The look of Cookie Cutters is growing on me too.

15x6 cookie cutters are very light forged wheels. Just like Fuchs.

The later 15x7 wheels cast and are softer/heavier.

No, my brochure for the 1973 911E, which came standard with cookies and is the first year they were made, says they are 15x6 cast aluminum wheels.

They are a great wheel but very common. It seems like every 911SC and early 944 came with them.

I don't think they ever made a 16". For winter I say narrower the better so 15x6" I have 15x7" with studded Nokian tires and the car is a beast in the snow, I live in a ski town and have made probably 60 trips up to the mountain in the last two winters. Ground clearance is the limiting factor but taller tires and US ride height help with that.

911s in the snow look so right.

Interesting. I wonder what the weight difference is between the two, regardless of construction. I wish I would have found a set of 15x6" instead of the 15x7"s I ended up with.

I agree. They feel right in the snow too. My choices for snow driving are the 911 a FWD volvo and a RWD truck. As long as its below the running boards I prefer the 911.

Maybe you can trade your cookie cutters for Fuchs?

I really do not know, I thought gas burners and cookie cutters held the same value. I much prefer Fuchs to either and pay more for cars with Fuchs.
Between cookie cutters and gas burners I prefer the cookie cutters.
Some times trading for the wheels you like is better than selling and buying, since some one out there might like the wheels you have more than the wheels you want.
WTT might be the way to go.

mepstein 09-03-2018 10:46 AM

Gas burners are magnesium. About $500-700/wheel.
Cookies are cast
Fuchs are forged.

Early 7’s even more. $400-500/wheel.

AirJose 11-06-2018 07:34 PM

Hello,
When you say early 7, what years are you talking about? (I have a set but have not checked the year) and where is the date stamped? Thank you all!
Jose

gearby 11-06-2018 09:03 PM

Anything prior to 8/73. He was referring to the early sevens that take the three prong cap
