Hey Guys,

I am trying to help a friend put a value on their Grandfather's car. It's a 1973 911T, all original, owned since brand new, with 38,xxx miles. It's Sepia Brown with Brown leather. Nothing too fancy but super well cared for and loved. No roof, has fuch wheels, 2.4T MFI still there and looks perfect and untouched. Looks like an all original car the way it would have come from the factory :) I've searched BAT and eBay. Don't see much in the old forums on the Bird and Early911. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'll post pictures after taking a look in person this weekend.

I'd be curious to see how much you're gonna pay your "friend". I hope he sells away and he gets all the money and you don't get to flip it.

Curious - you say the 2,4 "looks perfect and untouched" yet you will post photos after taking a look in person? How do you know it looks original if you haven't seen the car - if your looking for value guidance from us, don't BS us.

I'm guessing he's seen pictures plus it's a 38k mile, stock car. Chances are the engine is untouched. Only issue could be the low miles are because of an issue. You should know that as soon as you start it up or try to :) as for value 95k would be safe and if you get it right flip away. Not sure why all the hate on here for a good car sent into the market. Everyone who chews about this would not turn away these cars at a good price so why get angry at someone who finds one or two?

Damn, bunch of ball breakers here. Anyone who joins under their business name surely isn't trying to hide who they are or have any reason to be shady about their intentions. Harping on him just because he's a business is par for the course around these parts, unfortunately.

I agree with John, $95ish. An MFI '73 T is a pretty rare bird. Almost twice as many were made in CIS 73.5 version. Guys used to argue about which one was worth more years ago. I think they've kind of equalized in value, but if given the choice I would want the MFI one. That engine is really easy to discretely wake up when the time for a rebuild comes in 20-25k mi from now.

Yeah, I’ve never understood why Pelicanites for the most part are bitter when others can profit off of a Porsche. Maybe it’s all those personal losses on their own cars that contribute to that phenomenon of scolding those that do make money. Who knows, but it sure is petty.

If you're a business, why do you need the ruse of "helping a friend"? You're not helping anyone except your bank account. The "friend" probably doesn't know a Porsche from a crown Vic and has no idea he's being taken to the cleaners.

Hate on me all you want, I'll always root for an owner to get all the money from selling to a real buyer instead of being scalped and leaving tens of thousands on the table.

Some people want the help of an expert, especially if they don’t know much. If someone’s robbing old people of their valuable cars they aren’t going to openly ask for guidance in a public forum where the car owner could read it.

I helped my neighbour sell his and was in what sounds to be similar condition for $103,000. What is with some people on this forum? So bitter and rude, Rick you have a chip on your shoulder or a stick...well.. lol.

Hope I didn't come across as hateful, not my intention . If He saw photos he could post those as he was able to garner the originality of this vehicle from them.

Have never seen a 73 from NY without some rust, even with 38K miles, I bet I know what is lurking uptop at the rear of the front fender wells .

Per usual, it's both baffling and amazing to me that people put these questions out there without photographs or any solid information. The disparity in the real world values of these cars greatly depend on physical condition, and when these are put out there without anything to go on it's like a translation of a famous novel into a foreign language - just a shot in the dark.

Yep, it makes zero sense, other than the OPs who do that must be simply staging a "wild assed guesses" troll for personal amusement.

You guys are funny. Someone can describe a car fairly accurately and be provided a general value range for a car as described. The thinking that the keyboard jockeys here are the best experts to look at the condition of a car and assess it, via pictures, is just silly. It's almost childish at time, with a certain, "I'm not going to help you unless you show me pictures" slant to some of these posts. Assume that the car is being described somewhat accurately and give your price. If he comes back with pictures and something is glaringly wrong, reassess the value. It's not as hard as you nancys make it out to be.

5 digit odometer.. maybe its 138,000 miles? Brown on Brown. meh. Then again, maybe its a true treasure. No mention of how long its been sitting or why (accident? MFI issues?) and what would be needed to make it drivable (belts, rubber lines? fuel lines? MFI pump rebuild? suspension components?). the market for early cars is cooling, but could be $65-110K.

Why do people keep saying the market is cooling? 5 years ago a stunning T would have been $65k now its the bottom line price for a rough..ish matching car.

Maybe they're just referring to where prices are at from the peak of the market, which was more recent than 5 years ago.

The market has cooled, especially in the middle and for projects. We aren't talking about a bubble popping. It's just not overheating anymore and things have dropped 10-20% off of what they were a year or so ago. Still way up over 3-5 years ago.
